Petazy Paw Wipes

BUY ON AMAZON >

For all dogs.

Petazy are my go-to wipes for cleaning dirty paws, runny eyes, and messy butts. They're thick, have a subtle, pleasant smell, and lost a long time before drying out. If you have space to store them, I recommend the 400 pack because it comes with bonus glove wipes, which are great for emergency cleanups on walks.

Virbac Enzymatic Toothpaste

BUY ON AMAZON >

For all dogs.

I almost always recommend using a minty toothpaste over a meaty toothpaste. Most dogs I've known dislike meat-flavored toothpastes, and the flavoring doesn't do anything pleasant for their breath. I get the Vanilla Mint flavor Virbac toothpaste for my own dogs because they like the taste, I like the smell, and everyone likes how well it cleans.

Newday Toothbrushes

BUY ON AMAZON >

For all dogs.

Dog toothbrushes come in a lot of different shapes, but the ones that always worked best for me are good old double-headed brushes. If you brush your dog's teeth frequently (4 or more times a week), you should be replacing their brush every 3-4 months.

Natural Dog Company Paw Balm

BUY ON AMAZON >

For all dogs, especially those with sensitive paws.

City sidewalks have a lot of harsh surfaces and chemicals that can agitate paw pads. If your dog has cracked or dry paws, I recommend using this paw balm daily to help them heal, or use it to prevent irritation from hot sidewalks in the summer or ice melt in the winter. Natural Dog Company's paw balm is non-toxic, so it's safe for dogs to lick their feet after application.

Natural Dog Company Nose Balm

BUY ON AMAZON >

For all dogs, especially dogs with dry noses.

I recommend a nose balm for any dog dealing with chronic dry-snout. This is especially important for flat-faced dogs that have trouble keeping their nose wet. I recommend applying the balm 1 to 2 times a day before a meal or long-term chew so the balm has time to set before getting licked off. Just like their paw balm, Natural Dog Company's nose balm is non-toxic and safe to lick.

Groomage Pin Brush

BUY ON AMAZON >

For long hair and double-coated dogs.

A pin brush is the first step in any brushing routine for dogs with long hair, especially if they have a double coat. The wide teeth allow the brush to break up the biggest mats to make way for other brushes, or just buy time until your next grooming.

PETTOM Finishing Comb

BUY ON AMAZON >

For long hair and double-coated dogs.

Despite being called a finishing comb, this comb isn't just for finishing touches. It's best used after the pin brush for breaking up tangles, then again after the slicker brush to fluff and finish.

Paw Brothers Flexible Slicker Brush

BUY ON AMAZON >

For doodles, long hair, and double coated dogs.

This is a great all-purpose brush for any dog with hair long enough to be brushed. The flex in the brush helps keep you from brushing uncomfortably hard. For dogs with particularly long or thick coats, you might also need a pin brush to break up large mats, and/or a finishing comb to deal with smaller tangles.

Flying Pawfect Pet Slicker Brush

BUY ON AMAZON >

For doodles, long hair, and double coated dogs.

This is another great all-purpose brush for doodles and long hair dogs. I like using the Curved Small size brush when working on face, feet, and ears because it's easier to use on sensitive areas.

We Love Doodles

Face Comb

BUY ON AMAZON >

For doodles, long hair, and double-coated dogs.

This is a must have for dogs that go hiking or visit places with ticks. I recommend a face comb for any dog that has trouble with bugs, dirt, food, eye goobers, or anything else getting stuck on their face.

FURminator Undercoat Deshedding Brush

BUY ON AMAZON >

For short hair double-coated dogs.

This tool is only for short hair double-coated breeds like Short Haired Dutch Shepherds and German Short Haired Pointers. Be gentle with this tool so as not to damage your dog's skin or fur, and use it to maintain a healthy undercoat during shedding season.

DOGI Undercoat Rake

BUY ON AMAZON >

For long hair double coated dogs.

This tool is only for long hair double-coated breeds like Huskies and Golden Retrievers. This brush is used to help keep your dog's undercoat healthy during shedding season.

KONG Zoom Groom Brush

BUY ON AMAZON >

For short hair dogs.

This is your all-purpose brush for short haired dogs. Use this before or during bath time to clear out loose hair or to work in shampoo and conditioner. It's also great to use regularly during cuddle time.

Chris Christensen Detangling Spray

BUY ON AMAZON >

For doodles, long hair, and double-coated dogs.

This is super important for long hair dogs that get a lot of tangles, or generally are uncomfortable with getting brushed. Just a few sprays of this before brushing makes tangles come out much easier, especially on sensitive areas like the feet.
